YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH!

This is a short story that I told to the members of Valley Baptist Church of Salinas to help them understand the missional posture that we who are followers of Christ are to have. I pray that it gives youencouragement as well. It is called:YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Matthew 5:13 (NIV)There’s a story about a young…See More

A NEW BREED OF CHURCH PLANTER: Part 1 They're Ordinary

Unlike the church planters of the 80's and 90's who were well educated with earned bachelor and master degrees, well dressed, nicely groomed, with the ability to speak well and quite possibly could have had successful careers on Wall Street or in a Fortune 500 Company, this new breed of church planter, from a worldly perspective, is unsophisticated, raw and in many ways intimidating. For the most part the church planters of the 80's and 90's were trying to reach the upwardly mobile, career…See More

NO WAY COULD THIS GUY START A NEW CHURCH!

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 9:30pm 3 Comments

I want to introduce you to a man that in no way would ever pass a Church Planters Assessment but is probably one of the best church planters I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He is my very dear friend - no - he is my brother, Larry Munguia. Larry is not a Bible School or seminary trained man but he does know, love and daily

saturates his life in God's Word. He is not refined but he has spent time with Jesus. He doesn't speak with a… Continue

ARE CHURCH PLANTER ASSESSMENTS NEEDED?

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:23am 4 Comments

In our modern age of sophistication the church has not gone unaffected! Much of the modernization of the contemporary church is a positive thing that has helped the church become more effective in

accomplishing its mission. A perfect case in point is the fact that I

am sitting in my living room, using a lap top computer, writing a blog

that can be shared over the internet to encourage and stimulate God's

people to be more…

Good Morning Jay. It's good to hear and see how God's grace is being worked out through your ministry.

Thank you, Jay, for connecting. I look forward to what God will do through CGI. You're question about persecution is interesting in that I am being persecuted for following Jesus. Jesus said that men will "falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me" (Mt 5:11). I am right in the middle of that storm even now. Many in my church questioned whether or not I would depart. It's not easy to be faithful and the Lord never promised a pleasant path, only a bright eternity. Keep me in prayer as I travel through some heavy seas and rough storms.

Hello Jay,

Welcome to GCI! I hope you'll take some time to join one of our groups. Or, if you don't see one that suits you, go ahead and start one and see what kind of interest is generated. You may want to share some of your experiences with ethnic, urban or other church planting.

You are exactly right- there are not enough resources on the planet to start the churches we need to reach panta ta ethne utilizing our traditional methods. We need an army of (extra)ordinary Christ followers who are sold out to the proposition that rapid and healthy multiplication of disciples is what God desires.

With this missional network, we want to create some excitement among Christ followers about fulfilling the Great Commission. So, pass on invitations to people you know who would like to be a part of this network.

May our God richly bless your efforts as you seek to make disciples of panta ta ethne!

Blessings,
Tim Ahlen
