Roland Allen On Indigenous, Three Self Church Planting

When Roland Allen wrote his two missions classics – Missionary Methods: St. Paul’s Or Ours (1912) and The Spontaneous Expansion Of the Church And The Causes That Hinder It (1927), missionary work was characterized by centralized foreign sending agencies, foreign missionary leadership, foreign funding, missions stations, and paid native workers. Posting Guidelines

This site is a professional, not a social networking site. In order to stay focused on our mission, we will only accept posts and photos that deal directly with:
(1) evangelization and discipleship of the unreached people groups and people group segments of North America and the world
(2) Biblical, missiological, anthropological, sociological and communication issues related to carrying out the Great Commission
(3) Church Planting Movements, and other related multiplication strategies.

We certainly affirm and praise God for efforts made to edify, educate and otherwise build up the Body of Christ. We hope you can do the same for GCI.

What's a CPM?

CPM is the abbreviation for Church Planting Movement. A simple, concise definition of a Church Planting Movement (CPM) is "a rapid and multiplicative increase of indigenous churches planting churches within a given people group or population segment." For more information, visit www.pantataethne.org.

GCI researches CPM's around the world and discovers the principles involved and trains church planters in them so that the phenomenon can be reproduced in a variety of cultural contexts.

What's the Difference Between a People Group and a People Group Segment?

According to the Lausanne 1982 Convention, for evangelistic purposes, a people group is "the largest group within which the Gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance". A people group segment is a subset of a people group, where understanding may not much of a problem, but acceptance is. For a complete discussion on this topic, go to www.pantataethne.org. Truth that Sticks

Avery Willis went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2010. He was and is a giant in the Kingdom. Before he left us, he collaborated with Mark Snowden to write this book, which will be available September 1, 2010. You can order a copy on Amazon by clicking on this link.
